What are you doing for others?
This morning’s meditation was inspired by Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy and asked us to reflect on our contributions.
How We Contribute
For many, our contributions could be our role as a parent, a family member, a really good friend, or a kind stranger.
For others, it may be to our community, to our profession, towards a cause, towards a movement.
Let’s take a moment today to acknowledge what we contribute to the greater good, and really accept that no act of kindness is too small to matter!
Let’s ask ourselves, in what other avenues and actions can we step up and show up, for others?
Why doing good, feels good
There is such a strong connection between helpfulness and happiness. Doing good not only feels good, but has positive effects on our brain, emotions, and general well-being. Commitment and intent to generosity - and then allowing yourself to receive gratitude - can decrease symptoms of depression and anxiety and help strengthen skills our own skills to self-regulate.
So whether your work impacts millions, thousands, or just one person - I thank you for your work today! And I invite you to thank a parent, a friend, a volunteer, an advocate, a mentor today who could use a reminder of our appreciation (it goes a long long way).
